Blanca Peak

Blanca Peak is the fourth highest summit of the Rocky Mountains of North America and the U.S. state of Colorado. The ultra-prominent 14,351-foot peak is the highest summit of the Sierra Blanca Massif, the Sangre de Cristo Range, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The fourteener is located 9.6 miles north by east of the Town of Blanca, on the drainage divide separating Rio Grande National Forest and Alamosa County from the Sangre de Cristo Land Grant and Costilla County. The summit is the highest point of both counties and the entire drainage basin of the Rio Grande. Below the steep North Face of Blanca Peak two live Glaciers once developed, until extinction sometime after 1903. North & South Blanca Glaciers were located at 37° 35N., longitude 105° 28W. Blanca Peak is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude. The Blanca Peak Tripoint of Alamosa, Costilla, and Huerfano counties is located on the same drainage divide approximately 251 feet northeast by north of the Blanca Peak summit at the boundary of the San Isabel National Forest.
Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve

The tallest sand dunes in North America, the Great Sand Dunes National Park is an experience like no other. From hiking and camping to sand-boarding and sand sledding, this is a landscape you won’t soon forget. Open day and night year-round, at the Great Sand Dunes you’ll walk under a blanket of stars or play in a sand box of epic proportions. It is by far one of the best things to come out of Costilla County.
Zapata Falls

Love waterfalls? You’re in luck! Zapata falls is a natural water fall visible through a glorious Colorado cave. This easy .9-mile hike takes the average hiker a cool 30 minutes to access, with a fun stroll in between rock walls and freezing rivers. Though the road leading to the trail head is rough, the beauty of this fall is worth it. Just another gem hidden in Costilla County.
Mount Lindsey

Mount Lindsey is a high mountain summit on the Sierra Blanca Massif in the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,048-foot fourteener is located in the Sangre de Cristo Land Grant, 10.8 miles north of the community of Fort Garland

This rare mountain range is privately owned and has been for hundreds of years, only adding to its appeal.
